Yeezus vs Born Sinner... Kanye vs J. Cole.... or is it more than that?
No day on the calendar is more important for us than June 18th. June 18th is the birthday of our daughter Aaliyah aka Bright Eyes aka Quinton Jr. aka Punkie aka Princess Awesome
She is our light. Our inspiration. Our hope. Our dreams. Our everything.

Our daughter is a special kid. I'm saying that as a proud father and husband, and I hope that all parents feel the same as we do about their children. But I can only comment on my experience as a parent.
As men, we often place success and money on a higher pedestal than we do the grooming of our families. Being a father is the best thing that ever happened to me. Don't get it twisted though; being a dedicated father is a very trying experience. But being a great father is more than buying clothes, toys, food, and basic necessities. Being a great father entails tedious curriculum. One must teach values, fundamentals, manners, and respect through interaction. My family is not privileged with a nanny, daycare, or babysitter. And to be honest, those things are not really a privilege. I personally prefer the hands on approach my wife and I take. That way we know that all the information she receives is funneled through us.
So while everyone is debating on whether J. Cole's album will out sell Kanye's album, my wife and I will be celebrating another year of joy, happiness, health, growth, and unity. This is not a diss to the release of both phenomenal albums, because I will be copping both for Aaliyah to open when she is ready to digest them properly. But this is a "blog ode" to our gift. June 18, 2013 just so happens to be a big day for the culture that her Papa loves. A culture that I know she will cherish, respect, and represent in the future.  With that said... HAPPY BIRTHDAY AALIYAH! And may you experience more years to come.
Sin Cera,
The Awesome Family.
